ACT WorkKeys® Assessments

The state of Alabama has now adopted the National Career Readiness Certificate® (NCRC®). The NCRC® is an assessment-based credential that utilizes ACT’s WorkKeys®; this credentialing gives employers and career seekers a uniform measure of key workplace skills.

WorkKeys® is a job skills assessment system measuring “real world” skills that employers believe are critical to job success.

Students can earn the National Career Readiness Certificate® (NCRC®), APOSTC, ParaProfessional, and many other certificates by completing the assessments.

WorkKeys® can be taken at Shelton State Community College or remotely through ProctorU.  Equipment should be tested prior to completing a remote exam with ProctorU Test It Out. Click here to view the WorkKeys® website.

WorkKeys® for Employers

Shelton State Community College is pleased to offer WorkKeys® assessments and training through its WorkKeys® Service Center.   As a national workforce development system developed by ACT, the WorkKeys® system is the most advanced measure of workplace skills needed for successful applicant selection and training.  Through WorkKeys® assessments, employers can hire and retain the high-performance workforce necessary to compete successfully in today’s economy.

WorkKeys® allows employers to:

  • Identify the key job skills and the levels of competency needed to meet entry-level job requirements
  • Compare the skill levels of applicants against the minimum job skill level requirements
  • Increase bottom lines by reducing turnover, overtime, and waste
  • Establish legal defensibility in selection processes
