Theatre Tuscaloosa’s SecondStage to Replace Frost/Nixon With Love, Loss, and What I Wore

Love, Loss, and What I Wore

October 18, 2019 – Theatre Tuscaloosa’s SecondStage production of Frost/Nixon is being replaced, and Love, Loss, and What I Wore will now be performed Nov. 13-17, 2019 in The Historic Drish House (2300 17th Street, Tuscaloosa, AL 35404).

Patrons who previously purchased tickets for Frost/Nixon are being contacted, and will be given the following options: (1) see Love, Loss, and What I Wore, (2) exchange their tickets for another production, or (3) receive a refund.

Previously performed by Theatre Tuscaloosa in 2018, and based on the novel by Ilene Beckerman, Love, Loss, and What I Wore by Nora and Delia Ephron is a hilarious and touching tapestry of monologues and ensemble pieces about women, clothes, and memories covering all the important subjects—mothers, prom dresses, mothers, buying bras, mothers, hating purses, and why we only wear black.

“There’s something in here everyone can relate to,” said Kiera Gillock, coordinator of Theatre Tuscaloosa’s SecondStage. “Every woman has a story in her life that she can tie to a piece of clothing, whether it’s a dress she wore during every one of her pregnancies, a color in which she can’t help but get every piece of her wardrobe, or how she feels her disorganized purse is a representation of her life.”

Love, Loss, and What I Wore has 29 rotating female roles played by Faith Bonitz, Vickie Davis, Carol DeVelice, Melissa Grantham, Louise Manos, Kim Palm, and NorQuina “Q” Rieves. Dianna Brown Shaw is co-directing this revival of the 2018 SecondStage production.

Performance dates and times at the Drish House are as follows: Wednesday, Nov. 13 at 7:30 p.m.; Thursday, Nov. 14 at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, Nov. 15 at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, Nov. 16 at 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday, November 17 at 2 p.m. All tickets are general admission and cost $8.00. A discount is available for season ticket holders.

Audiences can also see an abbreviated version of the show on Friday, November 1, at 7 p.m. in the Bean-Brown Theatre on the Martin Campus of Shelton State Community College, when Theatre Tuscaloosa presents this show as its Alabama Community Theatre Festival (ACTFest) entry. Tickets to individual ACTFest performances are $7, and discounted multi-show passes are also available.
