ARP Student Portion Reporting

The information below is provided in compliance with section 2003 of the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ARP) (Pub. L. 117‑2) are governed by section 2003 of the ARP and section 314 of the Department of Education’s Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act (CRRSAA) Reporting requirements. The information in this report was compiled on September 30, 2021 and will be updated no less than every 45 days.

 

  1. An acknowledgement that the institution signed and returned to the Department the Certification and Agreement and the assurance that the institution has used, or intends to use, no less than 50 percent of the funds received under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students.

    Shelton State Community College acknowledges that it signed and returned the Federal Certification and Agreement to receive American Rescue Plan (ARP) funding and agreed to use no less than 50% of the funds received under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act to provide Emergency Financial Grants to students.

  2. The total amount of funds that the institution will receive or has received from the Department pursuant to the institution’s Certification and Agreement for Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students.

    Shelton State Community College received $5,531,602 from the US Department of Education for ARP Emergency Financial Aid Grants to be distributed to students.

  3. The total amount of Emergency Financial Aid Grants distributed to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act as of the date of submission (i.e., as of the initial report and every calendar quarter thereafter).

    As of September 30, 2021 Shelton State Community College had distributed $5,531,602 directly to students, in accordance with Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act.

  4. The estimated total number of students at the institution eligible to participate in programs under Section 484 in Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965 and thus eligible to receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act.[1]

    Shelton State Community College had approximately 3,925 students eligible to receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act. Within the total population, institutions were instructed to determine eligibility criteria for distribution of the grant and encouraged to prioritize students with the greatest need.

  5. The total number of students who have received an Emergency Financial Aid Grant to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act.

    As of September 30, 2021, Shelton State Community College had distributed CARES Act funds to 3,925 eligible students.

  6. The method(s) used by the institution to determine which students receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants and how much they would receive under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act.

    Each student received $1,400. Additional funds were disbursed to students based on financial need, with amounts ranging from $500 to $900.

  7. Any instructions, directions, or guidance provided by the institution to students concerning the Emergency Financial Aid Grants.

    Shelton State Community College emailed potential recipients on August 1, 2021, notifying them of their potential eligibility for ARP funds and encouraging them to sign up for direct deposit if they had not already done so. The eligibility email was sent to students’ MyShelton email address, as well as their personal email addresses. The email also provided an option for the student to apply the funds to an anticipated balance for the upcoming fall 2021 term.
