March 26, 2018 – Theatre Tuscaloosa brings home three awards after representing Alabama at the Southeastern Theatre Conference (SETC) in Mobile, Alabama.

More than 5,000 theatre artists from seven states attended SETC March 7-10.

After competing against nine other theatres’ shows, Theatre Tuscaloosa’s production of The End of a Line by Robert Hawkins was honored with several awards. Jeanette Waterman, costume designer, won Best Costumes; Drew Baker received Best Actress for her role as Mrs. Nora Ashton; and Kathy Wilson was named a member of the All Star Cast for her role as Miss Margaret Gravlee.

The cast and crew of The End of a Line also include Adam Miller; Charles Prosser, co-director; Tina Turley, co-director and scenic designer; Ashlyn Lambert, stage manager; and Wheeler Kincaid, lighting and sound designer.

Following the farewell pay-what-you-will performance that was held on March 6, roughly $2,500 was raised to help take The End of a Line to Mobile. Donations may still be made to offset the remaining balance of Theatre Tuscaloosa’s winning trip to SETC.

Theatre Tuscaloosa will again partner with the Alabama Conference of Theatre to host the annual Alabama Community Theatre Festival (ACTFest) November 2-4 in the Bean-Brown Theatre. Best-of-Show winners will earn the right to compete at SETC 2019 (February 27-March 3, 2019 in Knoxville, Tennessee), and the Best-of-Show recipients there will qualify to participate in the American Association of Community Theatre’s bi-annual National Community Theatre Festival (June 18-22, 2019 in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania). More information will be announced later this year.
