August 17, 2021 – Theatre Tuscaloosa opens its 2021-2022 season, themed “Together Again!,” with the fan-favorite musical revue Always… Patsy Cline, created and originally directed by Ted Swindley, running September 10-19 in the Bean-Brown Theatre at Shelton State Community College.

Tuscaloosa’s own Rosie Webber stars as the legendary American country singer Patsy Cline, who became one of the most influential vocal talents of the 20th century. Lauren Wilson returns as Patsy’s biggest fan, “Louise,” who joins her on stage to reminisce about the singer’s most popular songs, their first meeting, and their growing friendship. Packed with hits like “Crazy,” “Walkin’ After Midnight,” and “I Fall to Pieces,” this show is a funny, musical stroll down memory lane.

The production is directed by Theatre Tuscaloosa Executive Producer Tina Turley. “Although this is our fifth production of Always… Patsy Cline, this is my first time to direct it,” said Turley. “I’m having such a joyful time working with our two talented actors and a truly stellar design team.” The production team includes musical direction by Terry Moore, stage management by Charles Prosser, scenic design by Lynne Hutton, lighting design by Lyndell McDonald, costume design by Jeanette Waterman, and sound design by EatMyBeats.

Performances will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Fridays, Thursdays, and Saturday September 11 and at 2:00 p.m. on Sundays, Wednesdays, and Saturday September 18. The runtime is approximately an hour and a half, and there will be a 15-minute intermission. Due to Shelton State’s COVID-19 health protocols, patrons will be required to wear a mask while inside the building.

Single tickets go on sale August 20. Tickets are $24 for adults, $20 for seniors, members of the military, and Shelton State employees, and $16 for students and children. Special rates are available for Shelton State students and groups of ten or more if purchased in advance.

Always… Patsy Cline is produced in cooperation with Shelton State Community College, and with the generous support of The National Endowment for the Arts, the Alabama State Council on the Arts, and the City of Tuscaloosa. Sponsors of the show include Mercedes Benz USI and WVUA23, as well as the season’s signature sponsor, Claire Friday. Performances are held at the Bean-Brown Theatre on the Martin Campus of Shelton State Community College (9500 Old Greensboro Road).
