February 16, 2021 – Theatre Tuscaloosa will hold auditions for its upcoming virtual show, Motherhood Out Loud, 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Monday, February 22 and Tuesday, February 23 via Zoom.
Motherhood Out Loud features a series of vignettes by a handful of writers including Leslie Ayvazian, Brooke Berman, David Cale, Jessica Goldberg, Beth Henley, Lameece Issaq, Claire LaZebnik, Lisa Loomer, Michele Lowe, Marco Pennette, Theresa Rebeck, Luanne Rice, Annie Weisman and Cheryl L. West. When entrusting the subject of motherhood to such a dazzling collection of celebrated American writers, what results is a joyous, moving, hilarious, and altogether thrilling theatrical event. Utterly unpredictable, Motherhood Out Loud shatters traditional notions about parenthood, unveils its inherent comedy, and celebrates the deeply personal truths that span and unite generations.
Roles are available for ages 13 and up, any gender, any race, and any background. Those who audition should be prepared to participate in cold readings from the script. To sign up for auditions, those interested should visit the Theatre Tuscaloosa website, on the “Auditions” page under the “Get Involved” tab and fill out the online form. The form will request contact information, as well as any potential conflicts during the rehearsal schedule. Auditionees must sign up and select a time slot prior to auditions. After submitting the form, the auditionee will receive a confirmation email including the connection link for the auditions.
Since the show contains adult language and mature material, performers younger than 18 will need to have their guardians sign a release form. All auditionees must have stable, reliable access to an internet connection, as well as a device cable of connecting to Zoom meetings with video and audio.
Rehearsals are scheduled to begin March 1. Rehearsals will be held via Zoom on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m., and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. The final rehearsal schedule will be published after casting.
Motherhood Out Loud will be presented through ShowTix4U May 7-9, 2021 in celebration of Mother’s Day. Performance dates and times are as follows: Friday & Saturday, May 7 & 8 at 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday May 9 at 2:00 p.m.
