Hold Inherit the Wind and Father of the Bride Auditions

November 26, 2019 – Theatre Tuscaloosa will hold auditions for Inherit the Wind and Father of the Bride, Monday, December 16 at 6:00 p.m. and Tuesday, December 17 at 6:00 p.m. in the in the Wilson Carr Rehearsal Hall on the Martin Campus of Shelton State Community College (9500 Old Greensboro Rd).

Creation or evolution? Faith or science? These are the issues on trial in one of the greatest dramas of the 20th Century. Based on the events of the famous Scopes Monkey Trials, Inherit the Wind pits two hot-shot lawyers against one another as the state prosecutes a teacher for discussing the theory of evolution in the classroom.

In Father of the Bride, Mr. Banks runs a tight household until his daughter Kay surprises everyone with the announcement that she is engaged. The couple doesn’t want a “big” wedding—just a simple affair with a few friends. Before long, though, Mr. Banks’ life becomes a sprawling circus of caterers, florists, and furniture movers, in this comedy that inspired both the 1950 Spencer Tracy movie and the 1991 Steve Martin reboot.

Inherit the Wind and Father of the Bride have numerous male and female roles available. Those who audition should be prepared to participate in cold readings from the script. All who audition must bring their calendars and list all conflicts regarding the rehearsal schedule on their audition sheets.
