Theatre Tuscaloosa to Hold Grease Auditions April 27 & 28

Grease Auditions

April 10, 2019 – Theatre Tuscaloosa will hold auditions for its summer musical, Grease, Saturday, April 27 at 2:00 p.m. and Sunday, April 28 at 2:00 p.m. in the in the Wilson Carr Rehearsal Hall on the Martin Campus of Shelton State Community College (9500 Old Greensboro Rd).

 

Rydell High’s senior class of 1959 head “greaser” Danny Zuko and new “good girl” Sandy unexpectedly meet again after a summer of magical “Summer Nights.” When Sandy transfers to Danny’s school, Danny and Sandy are taken through several trials that test their love for one another. With disapproval from their friends, Danny and Sandy’s love blossoms and both will do whatever it takes to be together. Audiences will experience the excitement of young love and friendship that wondrously go “… together like rama lama lama ka dinga da dinga dong!”

 

Grease has numerous female and male roles available. Those who audition should prepare 16 measures of a song in the style of Grease; an accompanist will be provided to play sheet music. Bring appropriate shoes and attire for the dance portion, and be prepared to participate in cold readings from the script. All who audition must bring their calendars and list all conflicts regarding the rehearsal schedule on their audition sheets.

 

Scripts of Grease are available to read in the Theatre Tuscaloosa Ticket Office in advance (recommended); however, scripts may not leave the premises. The Ticket Office is open Monday through Thursday 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and Friday 9:00 a.m. – noon.

 

Rehearsals are currently scheduled to begin May 28, 2019. Rehearsals are generally held Monday through Friday evenings and some Sunday afternoons. The final rehearsal schedule will be published after casting.

 

Grease will be presented July 12-21, 2019 in the Bean-Brown Theatre on the Martin Campus of Shelton State Community College. Performance dates and times are as follows: Friday & Saturday, July 12 & 13 at 7:30 p.m.; Sunday and Wednesday July 14 & 17 at 2:00 p.m.; Thursday and Friday, July 18 & 19 at 7:30 p.m.; and Saturday and Sunday, July 20 & 21 at 2:00 p.m. A pay-what-you-can final dress rehearsal will be presented on Thursday, July 11 at 7:30 p.m., proceeds of which will benefit the Charlie Dennis Memorial Scholarship Fund.
