Theatre Tuscaloosa to Hold Frost/Nixon Auditions September 23 & 24

Frost/Nixon Auditions September 23 & 24

August 27, 2019 – Theatre Tuscaloosa’s SecondStage will hold auditions for Frost/Nixon September 23 & 24, at 7:30 p.m., in the Wilson Carr Rehearsal Hall at Shelton State Community College (9500 Old Greensboro Road, Tuscaloosa, AL 35405).

British talk-show host David Frost has become a lowbrow laughing-stock. Richard M. Nixon has just resigned the United States presidency in total disgrace over Vietnam and the Watergate scandal. Determined to resurrect his career, Frost risks everything on a series of in-depth interviews in order to extract an apology from Nixon. The cagey Nixon, however, is equally bent on redeeming himself in his nation’s eyes. In the television age, image is king, and both men are desperate to out-talk and upstage each other as the cameras roll. The result is the interview that sealed a president’s legacy.

Frost/Nixon has male & female roles available. Some roles may be doubled, allowing one actor/actress to play multiple roles. All who audition must bring their calendars and list all conflicts regarding the rehearsal schedule on their audition sheets. Those who audition should be prepared to participate in cold readings from the script.

Scripts of Frost/Nixon are available to read in the Theatre Tuscaloosa Ticket Office in advance (recommended); however, scripts may not leave the premises. The Ticket Office is open Monday through Thursday 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and Friday 9:00 a.m. – noon.

Rehearsals are currently scheduled to begin September 29. Rehearsals are generally held Monday through Friday evenings and Sunday afternoons. The final rehearsal schedule will be published after casting.

Frost/Nixon will be presented Nov. 13-17, 2019 in The Historic Drish House (2300 17th Street Tuscaloosa, AL 35404). Performance dates and times are as follows: Wednesday, Nov. 13 at 7:30 p.m.; Thursday, Nov. 14 at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, Nov. 15 at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, Nov. 16 at 7:30 p.m.; & Sunday, November 17 at 2 p.m.
