January 11, 2022 – Theatre Tuscaloosa is holding auditions for its fourth annual Festival of One Acts at 7:30 pm. on January 31 and February 1 in the Alabama Power Recital Hall on the Martin Campus of Shelton State Community College (9500 Old Greensboro Road, Tuscaloosa, AL 35405).

The Festival of One Acts returns in 2022 with three comedic plays that examine the relationships between people and their drive to reach their full potential. On the Menu by Rob Ackerman pits mother against daughter as they navigate “the talk” before the daughter leaves for summer camp. Moonbeams in Mid-Morning by Jean Lenox Toddie brings together a young, intrepid reporter, a middle-aged environmentalist, and a poet on the skids in a confrontation in the remote Florida Everglades. Check Please! by Jonathan Rand ties it all together with a fast-paced vignette of two young hopefuls navigating the modern dating scene.

Roles are open for performers aged fourteen and up, any race or ethnicity, any gender identity, and those with disabilities. Those interested in auditioning should be prepared for cold readings from the scripts and bring a calendar of any potential conflicts for the rehearsal schedule. Perusal scripts are available in the ticket office during normal business hours. The ticket office is open Monday through Thursday 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and Friday 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Due to Shelton State’s COVID-19 health protocols, all those interested in auditioning will be required to wear a mask while inside the building.

Performances will be held at 7:30 p.m. March 23-26 and at 2:00 p.m. on March 27 at the Fredd Campus of Shelton State Community College. Rehearsals will be held at the Martin Campus, weekday evenings and weekend afternoons. More details are available at www.theatretusc.com or at 205.391.2277.
