Theatre Tuscaloosa to Hold a Festival of One Acts Auditions January 13 & 14

A Festival of One Acts

January 10, 2020 – Theatre Tuscaloosa’s SecondStage will hold open auditions for the third annual A Festival of One Acts Tuesday, January 13 and 14 at 7:00 p.m. in the Bean-Brown Theatre on the Martin Campus of Shelton State Community College (9500 Old Greensboro Rd).

 

Bringing together a variety of directors and actors, four one-act plays will be performed. Male and female performers of all races who are teens through seniors are encouraged to audition. The one-act plays include the following:

 

Sentences and Words by Cynthia L. Cooper (Cast: 2 female)

Thank Goodness for Hats by Melissa Grantham (Cast: 4 female)

Graceland by Ellen Byron (Cast: 2 female)

One Lane Bridge by Stephen Gregg (Cast: 2 female, 3 male)

 

Those who audition should come prepared to participate in cold readings from the script(s), and bring a complete list of potential conflicts. It is likely that those cast will be given a role in two or more of the one-act plays. Scripts of each one act are available to read in the Theatre Tuscaloosa Ticket Office in advance (recommended); however, scripts may not leave the premises. The Ticket Office is open Monday through Thursday 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and Friday 9 a.m.-noon.

 

Rehearsals will begin the week of January 21. Rehearsals are generally held Monday through Friday evenings and some Sunday afternoons. There will not be rehearsals on most Saturdays. The final rehearsal schedule will be published after casting.

 

A Festival of One Acts will be presented March 4-8, 2020, at the Dinah Washington Cultural Arts Center. Performances will be at 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 5 through Saturday, March 7; and 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 8.
