Theatre Tuscaloosa Requests Script Submissions

A Festival of One Act Plays

December 4, 2018 – Theatre Tuscaloosa is accepting original script submissions until December 17, 2018, for the Festival of One Acts celebrating Alabama’s Bicentennial year.

The ten-minute play performances will focus on the works of Alabama artists and are based on any subject that explores Alabama in celebration of its bicentennial. New plays are of primary focus, but previously produced plays will also be considered.

Plays must be set in Alabama within the last 200 years and must be able to be presented within the given 10-12 minutes playing time. Plays must contain no more than four (4) characters, have relatively simple technical requirements, and should appeal to a general audience base. The playwright must either be from or currently living in Alabama.

Plays may be submitted through email or hard copy. Playwrights must be available (via email or phone) for consultation with producer and/or director prior to the production dates. Playwrights are invited and encouraged to attend the festival. Playwrights will not be compensated for their work, but will receive credit in programs and publicity. Plays chosen to be a part of the festival will be announced on January 7, 2019. The Festival of One Acts will be held March 27-31, 2019, at the Dinah Washington Cultural Arts Center and co-sponsored by the Arts & Humanities Council of Tuscaloosa.

More information about the festival and script guidelines are available at www.theatretusc.com or 205.391.2277.
