Theatre Tuscaloosa Cancels May 2019 Production of Inherit the Wind

Inherit the Wind Cancelled

April 1, 2019 – Due to an extensive construction project that will correct a leak in the roof of the Bean-Brown Theatre, Theatre Tuscaloosa has cancelled its planned production of Inherit the Wind.

The play was originally scheduled to take place May 17-26, however the construction project that began February 25 is projected to take several months to complete, which will not allow the production to go forward.

“We are disappointed that we will not be able to present Inherit the Wind this year,” said Theatre Tuscaloosa Executive Producer Tina Turley. “We are, however, very happy that Shelton State Community College and the Alabama Community College System have made this repair a priority. This temporary inconvenience will ensure the long-term health of our beloved theatre.”

Season ticket holders have been alerted to the cancellation and have several options from which to choose regarding their Inherit the Wind tickets, including:

  • Gifting the value of their tickets to Theatre Tuscaloosa in the form of a tax-deductible donation
  • Exchanging their Inherit the Wind tickets for Grease tickets
  • Trading their tickets for vouchers good for tickets to any production offered through May 2020
  • Receiving a refund for the value of their Inherit the Wind tickets

Although the 2019 production of Inherit the Wind has been cancelled, Theatre Tuscaloosa is planning to include the production in its 2019-2020 season, full details of which will be formally announced in the coming weeks.

At this time, the remainder of the 2018-2019 season is expected to go on as planned. More information is available at www.theatretusc.com or at 205.391.2277.
