Theatre Tuscaloosa Announces 2021-22 T. Earle Johnson Winners

T. Earle Awards

August 29, 2022– Theatre Tuscaloosa held its annual T. Earle Johnson Awards ceremony celebrating the volunteer performers, technicians, and contributors who participated in the 2021-22 season on Sunday, August 21.

 

The T. Earle Johnson Awards celebrates the hard work and dedication of the volunteers who participate in and support Theatre Tuscaloosa’s shows on stage, backstage, and front of house. Performance categories are voted on by the public, the board of directors, and the All Star Cast, a group of volunteers who have earned at least three T. Earle Johnson Awards in the past. Special awards are given based on the recommendation of staff and board members.

 

The winners of the 2021-22 T. Earle Awards are:

  • Outstanding Leading Performance in a Musical: Reagan Branch as Sophie in Mamma Mia!
  • Outstanding Supporting Performance in a Musical: Lindsey Jones as Tanya in Mamma Mia!
  • Outstanding Featured Performance in a Musical: Meredith Vaughn as Lisa in Mamma Mia!
  • Outstanding Leading Performance in a Play: Dianna Brown Shaw as Ethel Thayer in On Golden Pond
  • Outstanding Supporting Performance in a Play: Baker Jones as Billy Ray in On Golden Pond
  • Outstanding Featured Performance in a Play: Cooper Shattuck as Charlie Martin in On Golden Pond
  • Outstanding Leading Performance in a SecondStage Play: Jessica Briana Kelly as Callie in Stop Kiss, and the Mother in On the Menu
  • Outstanding Supporting Performance in a SecondStage Play: Elizabeth Ward as Mel, Pearl, and Linda in Check Please!
  • Newcomer of the Year: Jamie Shannon Ferguson Ertle
  • The Paul K. Looney “Our Ox is in the Ditch” Award: Lindsay Sockler Troha
  • Patron of the Year Award: AFFLINK
  • Jake Leigeber Volunteer of the Year Award: Bryne Zuege
  • The Doug Perry Outstanding Service to the Theatre Award: Cartography Consulting
  • The Charlie Dennis “Bear It” Award for Technical Service: Ebony Wesley
  • One-Time Special Award: The Live Stream Survive & Thrive Award – The Cast of Motherhood Out Loud (2021)

As a third-time recipient of a T. Earle Johnson Award this year, Dianna Brown Shaw was also inducted into the All Star Cast.
