“The Hallelujah Girls” Auditions Scheduled for March 27 & 28

Hallelujah Girls Auditions

March 8, 2023 – Theatre Tuscaloosa will hold auditions for The Hallelujah Girls, a Jones Hope Wooten comedy, March 27and 28 at 7:00 p.m. in the Wilson Carr Rehearsal Hall on the Martin Campus of Shelton State Community College (9500 Old Greensboro Road, Tuscaloosa, AL 35405).

In Eden Falls, Georgia, five best gal-pals set out to start a new life by renovating an old church into their dream beauty parlor – the SPA-DEE-DAH! When their arch-rival announces she will stop at nothing to shut them down, the ladies band together to keep their dream alive. Mix in the arrival of a sexy ex-boyfriend, an unexpected marriage proposal, and an unwelcome demolition crew, and you’ve got a side-splitting, joyful comedy that will make you laugh out loud and shout, “hallelujah!”

Roles are available for six female/female-identifying and two male/male-identifying actors ages thirties to sixties. Actors of all races and ethnicities will be considered. A full cast of characters and their descriptions can be found on the Theatre Tuscaloosa website. Those interested in auditioning should be prepared for cold readings from the script and should bring a complete calendar listing potential conflicts with the rehearsal schedule. No monologue will be required to audition.

Theatre Tuscaloosa strongly encourages all auditionees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to protect themselves and the integrity of the production. A perusal copy of the script is available to read in the ticket office during normal office hours, Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to noon.

The final rehearsal schedule will be announced after casting, but rehearsals are tentatively scheduled to begin on April 3 and will generally run 7:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Monday through Friday evenings and 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Sundays until closer to performance weeks.

The Hallelujah Girls performances run May 26 through June 4, 2023, in the Bean-Brown Theatre.
