All five were All-Tournament, and Coach Chris Sanford was the Coach of the Tournament

Hear from coach Chris Sanford below:

“To say I’m proud of these seven young ladies is an understatement!  They played very well the first two days and then battled their rear ends off in some very adverse wind in rounds three and four,” said Sanford. “Playing in 25 mph winds with gusts to 40 and 50 is just something you can’t prepare for.  It was very difficult and given the tournament and what they were playing for, they came through with flying colors.  This group has listened to all the coach speak, worked hard, and had that bond that champions have.  They have won three straight championships in the last six weeks, playing their best golf.  Assistant Coach David Zauchin, who is invaluable to me and vital to our success, and I are just ecstatic for the success of these young ladies.  Five of our girls were on the All-Tournament Team and will later be named All-Americans.  It has truly been a special season!  We are super excited to bring home the national championship to Tuscaloosa and Shelton State!  Go Bucs!”

In all, the Bucs have won 16 national championships. The men’s golf team won the national championship in 1999. The Shelton State cheerleading teams have won 14 national titles, most recently in January.
