February 24, 2023 – Shelton State Community College will deliver donated items and provide free meals to the people of Selma, Alabama, on Wednesday, March 1.  SSCC students, faculty, and staff donated personal hygiene products, diapers, blankets, and more for those impacted by the January 12 tornado that damaged portions of Dallas County, including Selma.

Shelton State partnered with Wallace Community College Selma to identify needed items and coordinate a pick-up location on the WCCS campus.  “We truly felt called to help the people of Selma after this tragedy,” stated Dr. Chris Cox, SSCC President.  “Our faculty, staff, and students rallied to provide essential items, and we hope this small gesture comforts those affected.  We greatly appreciate our ACCS sister school, WCCS, and President James Mitchell, for providing a space for us.”

Dr. Cox, Dean of Community Relations Joe Eatmon, and others from Shelton State will be on-site at the donation drop-off.  Lunch will be provided by Tuscaloosa’s Spades Restaurant Food Truck from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
