Shelton State Theatre Department Hosts Staged Readings

October 14, 2026 – Shelton State Community College’s (SSCC) theatre department will host After Dark: An Evening of Spooky Staged Readings on October 28 and 29 at 7:00 p.m. in the Alabama Power Recital Hall on the College’s Martin Campus. Presented as “Pay What You Can” performances, all proceeds will benefit theatre students’ upcoming travels to the 2027 Edinburgh Festival Fringe as part of the International Collegiate Theatre Festival.

After Dark includes staged adaptations of three well-known horror tales: The Yellow Wallpaper, The Monkey’s Paw, and Edgar Allen Poe’s The Tell-Tale Heart. Adapted for the stage by Theatre Tuscaloosa’s Elana Woodall (Wallpaper, Heart) and Shelton State theatre instructor Molly Page (Monkey’s Paw), each will be performed with music and creative staging.

All readings will feature SSCC students and local community members.
