Terrific Tuesday Concert Series

January 23, 2019 – Shelton State Community College’s Terrific Tuesday Concert Series will feature pianist Edisher Savitski on Tuesday, January 29 at 1:00 p.m. in the Martin Campus Alabama Power Recital Hall. Admission is free, and the event is open to the public.

 

Pianist Edisher Savitski has enjoyed critical acclaim throughout his career. He has appeared as a soloist at major music festivals in the United States as well as in Germany, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Switzerland, France, Russia, United Kingdom, Israel, Austria, Morocco, Japan, and New Zealand.

 

Born in Tbilisi, Georgia, Dr. Edisher Savitski studied in Central Music School with Maya Beridze and later in the Tbilisi Conservatory with professor Nana Khubutia. During this time, he became a prizewinner of the international charity program “New Names” (Russia) and won the collaborative piano competition arranged at the Tbilisi State Conservatory. In 1998, he joined the renowned Alexander Toradze Piano Studio at Indiana University South Bend where he earned a Masters Degree, Artist Diploma, and has been awarded with the Performers Certificate. In spring 2013, he earned a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in performance from Michigan State University.

 

Currently, Dr. Savitski is Assistant Professor of Piano at The University of Alabama School of Music.

 

Shelton State’s Terrific Tuesday Concert Series is designed to showcase a variety of repertory styles. Weekly performances are offered by guest artists as well as Shelton State faculty and students.
