Shelton State Terrific Tuesday Concert Series to Feature Capstone Quintet

Terrific Tuesday Concert Series

March 27, 2019 – Shelton State Community College’s Terrific Tuesday Concert Series will feature the Capstone Quintet on Tuesday, April 2 at 1:00 p.m. in the Alabama Power Recital Hall on the Martin Campus. Admission is free and open to the public.

Since its re-formation in 2006, the Capstone Wind Quintet, the primary faculty ensemble in residence at The University of Alabama School of Music, has established a tradition of artistic and teaching excellence. As part of the Alabama-Cuba Initiative, the group traveled to Havana, Cuba, to work with students at the Instituto Superior de Arte and to perform a joint concert with Ventus Habana. Stateside, the ensemble has been featured in performances at the College Music Society National Convention (Atlanta) and the National Flute Association Convention (Las Vegas). Committed to musical performance and educational workshops, the quintet travels widely in the region to present to audiences of all ages.

Current members of the Capstone Quintet are Diane Boyd Schultz, flute; Mary Lindsey Bailey, oboe; Jenny Mann, bassoon; Osiris Molina, clarinet; and Skip Snead, horn.

Shelton State’s Terrific Tuesday Concert Series is designed to showcase a variety of repertory styles. Weekly performances are offered by guest artists as well as Shelton State faculty and students.
