Shelton State Technical Programs Honored to Welcome Dr. Steven Daniewicz as Guest Speaker

October 30, 2024  – Shelton State Community College (SSCC) Technical Programs were honored to welcome Dr. Steven Daniewicz, the Department Head of Metallurgical & Materials Engineering at The University of Alabama, on October 24. Dr. Daniewicz spoke to the College’s Welding, Machine Tool, and Computerized Numerical Control (CNC) students and shared his path from welder to welding engineer and the roles metallurgy engineers and welding engineers play in industry.

“Dr. Daniewicz presentation enlightened the students to diverse career opportunities available to them through further education,” said SSCC Welding Instructor Scottie Smith. “Several students are now talking about continuing their education at The University of Alabama in the field of welding engineering. It is thrilling to see students learn of more opportunities.”
