Shelton State Presents Thornton Wilder’s Our Town

March 15, 2018 – Shelton State Community College’s Theatre Department will present Thornton Wilder’s Our Town April 12-15 in the Bean-Brown Theatre on Shelton State’s Martin Campus.

Our Town is a beautifully simple story about the small town of Grover’s Corners, New Hampshire, where the small details of life are proven to be the most valuable. Narrated by a stage manager and performed with minimal props and sets, audiences follow the Webb and Gibbs families through daily life, love and marriage, and the great beyond.

Shelton State theatre instructor Michael Carr is directing Our Town and is excited to see his students taking center stage.

“We have some tremendously talented students studying theatre at Shelton State,” said Carr. “It is exciting to see them working hard and learning so much at the same time. This production is the culmination of in-class preparation and extracurricular rehearsals, and it’s wonderful to see their work coming to fruition.”

The rest of the production team includes Jeanette Waterman, costumer; Kari Killingsworth, stage manager; Jordan Bohl, scenic designer; and Jacob Tolson, lighting designer.

The cast of Our Town includes Caleb Adams, Ian Akins, Dora Alexander, Nate Blakely, Kaitlyn Day, Linda Fields, Billy Hutchins, Glen Johnson, Billy Luu, Patrick McCaffrey, James Moretz, Chris O’Rear, Miguel Pascual, Cierra Smith, David Spencer, Ivan Taylor, Riley Thomas, and Elizabeth Ward.

Our Town will be presented April 12-15 in the Bean-Brown Theatre on Shelton State Community College’s Martin Campus, 9500 Old Greensboro Road. Performances will start at 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday. Seating is general admission, and all tickets are $5.00. Tickets and more information are available at 205.391.2277 or sheltonstate.edu.
