Shelton State Music Department Presents Poetry in Music Concert

October 3, 2022 – The Shelton State Music Department will present Poetry in Music on Thursday, October 6 at 7:30 p.m. in the Bean-Brown Theatre on the Martin Campus of Shelton State Community College.  Admission is free, and all are invited to attend.

The Poetry in Music concert will showcase the talents of the Shelton Singers directed by Dr. Mark Brown.  The concert features the reading and choral settings of poetry.  Following a brief biographical sketch of the selected authors, poems will be read by Shelton State faculty members. The Shelton Singers will follow each reading with a performance of a musical piece based on the poetry.

“This concert is unique in its collaboration between Shelton State faculty members and students,” said Mark Brown, a member of the College’s music faculty and director of the Shelton Singers.  “We are truly excited about sharing the beautiful words of our selected writers through music and prose.”
