Shelton State Esports Ends Successful 2025 NJCAAE Season

May 5, 2025 – Shelton State Community College (SSCC) Esports recently completed the 2025 NJCAAE season. Teams competed for titles in five different games including Super Smash Bros (SSBU), Valorant, Rocket League, Warzone, and Tekken.

 

A new entry into the postseason for Shelton State, SSBU player Jon Wessen slotted a #45 seed push which ended in a 35th place finish for his first endeavor.

 

The number nine seeded Warzone team (Hayden Norstrom, Samuel Balentine, and Wesley Everett) finished in fifth place for the season. The number four Warzone team (Ethan Schulte and Sean Sanford) finished in the second round of the playoffs in sixth place.

 

The College’s number eight seeded Valorant team (Samuel Bauer, Peyton Caddis, McLandon Hunt, Garrett Baxter, Alex Medders, Emily West, Vincent Shim, Asa Whitten, and Trevor Wilson) fell in the third-round finishing in fifth place just short of the semifinals.

 

The Number ten seeded Rocket League team (Matthew Jackson, Michael West, and Noah Yarbrough ) finished ninth after losing their first match in the playoffs.

 

Three of SSCC’s Tekken players advanced to the playoffs. Number twenty-four seeded player David Devone lost in the first match and ended seventeenth. Number four seeded Tekken player Sh’Quan Spencer lost in the second round and finished ninth. After an amazing 17-0 season, the number one seeded Tekken player Kyle Gillison finished first bringing home another Tekken 8 championship for Shelton State!
