Tuscaloosa, Alabama – Shelton State Community College’s (SSCC) @theDome summer 2020 programming will temporarily move online with its STEM Academy and ACT Prep.


STEM Academy Online is designed to offer 3rd – 12th grade students an opportunity to continue education in math, coding, language arts, and other STEM activities in a fun and creative environment. The STEM Academy will reinforce and add to previously learned classroom skills and concepts.


STEM Academy Online will be conducted using the Zoom online meeting format.  Interested students can attend session 1 on June 1 – 11, 2020, or session two on June 15 – 25, 2020.  Both sessions occur Monday through Thursday 9:00 a.m. until 1:45 p.m.  The price per session is $160, and registration is available now at


“We are pleased that students have expressed interest in participating in an online version of our STEM Academy,” said Beth Rominger, Shelton State Outreach Specialist.  “Our instructors are working hard to make sure our students have a fun and creative experience that not only makes up for time lost in the classroom this year, but also provides an opportunity for students to connect with friends in the community.”


A session of ACT Prep will also be held online on May 27, June 3, and June 10.  Class will be held each day from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. utilizing the Zoom online meeting format.    The price is $250, and registration is available now.


Dates for July @theDome camps have not been determined, but all families are  encouraged to monitor and SSCC social media for updates.


A College-wide program, @theDome serves as the primary designation and information source for all Shelton State K-12 outreach camps and programs.   With opportunities also available in athletics, culinary arts, theatre, LEGO engineering, and cosmetology, @theDome programs are designed to accommodate all ages and a wide variety of interests.
