Shelton State Community College Welcomes Reco Dawson as New Men’s Basketball Coach

September 8, 2022 – Shelton State Community College Athletics welcomes Reco Dawson as the College’s new men’s basketball coach.  Arriving with more than twenty years of coaching experience, Coach Dawson most recently served as the head men’s basketball coach for Central Georgia Technical College.

Having also held coaching positions at Georgia Southwestern State University and South Georgia Technical College, Coach Dawson is a four-time Coach of the Year with three conference titles to his credit.  He looks forward to bringing his expertise and enthusiasm to Shelton State Athletics and considers this position an honor.

“I am excited about the opportunity and the journey that lies ahead – the winning tradition and forward movement of students is something to be valued,” said Coach Dawson.  “I aspire to continue this tradition with the support of faculty, staff, students, and this community. I also commit to working hard each day to make the BUCS proud. Let’s take this journey together!”

“Reco Dawson is an excellent fit with Shelton State Athletics,” said Cara Crosslin, SSCC Athletics Director. “We are confident that he will build on the foundation of an already successful program and take our players to the next level.”
