Shelton State Community College Welcomes Dr. Bill Ashley as President

September 1, 2017 – Shelton State Community College faculty and staff will welcome a new President, Dr. William “Bill” Ashley, to Tuscaloosa on Friday, September 15 at 8:30 a.m. in the Bean-Brown Theatre on the Martin Campus. After an introduction by Alabama Community College System Chancellor Jimmy Baker, Dr. Ashley will briefly address the College community. The event is not open to the public, however, media guests are invited to attend.

Following Dr. Ashley’s official arrival on Monday, October 2, the College will host a public event for friends and supporters. Additionally, a press conference will be scheduled for all interested media contacts. Both dates are to be determined.

 

A Mississippi native, Ashley earned a Ph.D. in community college leadership from Mississippi State University and also has an MBA from Delta State University as well as other educational credentials in finance and accounting. He has worked almost two decades in Mississippi’s community college system, serving most recently as vice president for student affairs at Southwest Mississippi Community College in Summit, Mississippi. His prior roles range from student instruction to athletics to academic leadership.
