SHELTON STATE COMMUNITY COLLEGE VOICE STUDENT AWARDED AT AUDITIONS
Tuscaloosa, Alabama – Five Shelton State Community College students competed in the Alabama Chapter of The National Association of Teachers of Singing (ALANATS) auditions in Birmingham, Alabama on February 21.
During this weekend event, voice students from the state of Alabama were adjudicated by teachers of singing from all around the state. Singers were placed into categories according to their level of study and sang for a panel of judges who evaluated their performances. Those scoring the highest in the preliminary rounds are passed along to semi-finals and finals, where winners were selected by a popular vote of all participating voice instructors.
Allison Battle, Kazarious Brown, Nicole Malinverni, Ivan Taylor, and Chris Victory from the Shelton State music department participated this year at ALANATS auditions. Kazarious Brown was selected as a finalist for the second year college men’s musical theatre division. He also placed first in his category at the finals concert Saturday afternoon.
