Shelton State Community College Visual Arts to Highlight Faculty Artwork

Faculty Art Show

September 11, 2023 – Shelton State Community College’s Visual Arts Department will present a faculty/staff art exhibition September 11 through October 5 in the Cadence Bank Art Gallery on the College’s Martin Campus. The exhibition is free and open to the public Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. All are welcome.

The showcase will highlight work by Carson Grubaugh and Krislyn Koehn.

As part of Shelton State’s designation as the Community College of the Fine Arts for the state of Alabama, the visual arts department focuses on instruction in art techniques and processes engaging students in creative thinking, self-exploration, and critical evaluation. Courses are designed to provide students with a strong foundation in studio arts and art history. The art program offers experience for students pursuing transfer to a four-year college program, art careers, and/or personal enrichment.

The Cadence Bank Art Gallery, located on the Martin Campus, showcases a changing series of exhibitions of local, regional, and national artists. At the end of each semester, the gallery features a juried student art exhibition with a purchase award.
