Shelton State Community College Visual Arts Presents Talented Teens

Talented Teens - Art by High School Students

February 28, 2020 – Shelton State Community College’s Visual Arts Department will present Talented Teens March 6 through April 7. Featuring art created by young adults from local Tuscaloosa high schools, the exhibition will be housed in the Cadence Bank Art Gallery on the Martin Campus.

A reception honoring the artists will be held on March 12 from 3:30 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. with a special award presentation at 4:30 p.m. Both the exhibition and the reception are free and open to the public.

Part of Shelton State’s designation as the Community College of the Fine Arts for the state of Alabama, the visual arts department focuses on instruction in art techniques and processes engaging students in creative thinking, self-exploration, and critical evaluation. Courses are designed to provide students with a strong foundation in studio arts and art history. The art program offers experience for students pursuing transfer to a four-year college program, art careers, and/or personal enrichment.

The Cadence Bank Art Gallery, located on the Martin Campus, showcases a changing series of exhibitions of local, regional, and national artists. The Gallery is open during the College’s regular business hours.
