Shelton State Community College Visual Arts Presents Student Art Exhibition

January 11, 2019 – Shelton State Community College’s Visual Arts Department will present an art exhibition of student-designed posters January 16 through February 11 in the Martin Campus Cadence Bank Art Gallery.

The Design Posters Art Exhibition will feature a variety of designs and concepts from the College’s graphic design and two-dimensional design students. The exhibition is free and open to the public. The Cadence Bank Art Gallery is open during the College’s regular business hours.

Part of Shelton State’s designation as the Community College of the Fine Arts for the state of Alabama, the visual arts department focuses on instruction in art techniques and processes engaging students in creative thinking, self-exploration, and critical evaluation. Courses are designed to provide students with a strong foundation in studio arts and art history. The art program offers experience for students pursuing transfer to a four-year college program, art careers, and/or personal enrichment.

The Cadence Bank Art Gallery, located on the Martin Campus, showcases a changing series of exhibitions of local, regional, and national artists. At the end of each semester, the gallery features a juried student art exhibition with a purchase award.
