Shelton State Community College Visual Arts Presents Fall Student Art Exhibition

Fall Student Art Exhibition

November 14, 2019 – Shelton State Community College’s Visual Arts Department will open its Fall 2019 Student Art Exhibition on November 22 in the Martin Campus Cadence Bank Art Gallery. A reception honoring the artists will be held on Thursday, December 5 from 4:00 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. with a special award presentation at 4:30 p.m. Both the exhibition and the reception are free and open to the public.

Held twice a year, the Student Art Exhibition will feature selected artwork from spring semester art students. A purchase award will be given for one of the featured pieces.

Part of Shelton State’s designation as the Community College of the Fine Arts for the state of Alabama, the visual arts department focuses on instruction in art techniques and processes engaging students in creative thinking, self-exploration, and critical evaluation. Courses are designed to provide students with a strong foundation in studio arts and art history. The art program offers experience for students pursuing transfer to a four-year college program, art careers, and/or personal enrichment.

The Cadence Bank Art Gallery, located on the Martin Campus, showcases a changing series of exhibitions of local, regional, and national artists. The Gallery is open during the College’s regular business hours.
