Meet and Greet Session

February 5, 2025 – Shelton State Community College (SSCC) will host meet and greet sessions in West Alabama for veterans, their families, and veteran support organizations interested in applying for the HERO PATH=s (Hope, Empowerment, Resources, Opportunities Practice, Attitude, Training, and Health=Success) grant. The grant is aimed at improving mental health care and support for veterans.

Sessions will be held Tuesday, February 11, 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. at the Hale County Extension Office Auditorium in Greensboro, Alabama (701 Hall Street) and Tuesday, February 25, 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. at the Bibb Medical Center Wellness Center in Centreville, Alabama (285 Hospital Drive).

SSCC, a leading advocate for veteran services, launched the grant in December 2024 to provide essential resources to veterans, dependents, and military spouses throughout West Alabama.

“This program comes at a crucial time, as mental health issues continue to affect many veterans, impacting their overall well-being and quality of life,” states Eric Prewitt, Director of Financial Aid and supervisor of the College’s Veterans Resource Center.
