Shelton State Community College to Recognize Bibb Medical Center Apprentices at Rescheduled Signing Event

Bibb Medical Apprenticeship Signing 2025

January 22, 2025 – Shelton State Community College (SSCC) will celebrate its nursing students selected for apprenticeships with Bibb Medical Center and welcome a new student apprentice at a special signing event on Thursday, January 23, at 10:00 a.m. at Bibb Medical Center (BMC) in Centreville, Alabama. (208 Pierson Avenue) Members of the media are invited to attend.

The apprenticeship program requires on-the-job learning, nursing coursework, labs, and simulations at Shelton State Community College’s Bibb Campus. Candidates must be enrolled as nursing students and on-site for on-the-job learning as required. Apprentices are paid while on the job and performing clinical hours.

“This event will not only act as a signing day for our newest apprentice but also as a celebration of the accomplishments of our inaugural apprentices and the success of the program,” said SSCC President Jonathan Koh. “Great things are happening through our partnership with BMC, and we are excited to showcase them.”

Shelton State and BMC partnered in 2022 to create a practical nursing program at Bibb Medical Center. The program is designed to increase the number of skilled nurses in West Alabama.
