Shelton State Community College to Host Free Vaccination Clinic August 25

August 12, 2021 – In collaboration with the Alabama Department of Public Health, Shelton State Community College (SSCC) will host a COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, on the Martin Campus from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. A second clinic designed to administer the second dose of the vaccine will be held on Wednesday, September 15, 2021, on the Martin Campus from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

The Vaccination Clinic is open to SSCC students, faculty, staff, as well as the public and is free of charge.  All participants will be asked to provide a photo ID at the time of their vaccination.

Participants ages 18 and older will receive the Moderna vaccine.

Participants 12 to 17 years of age will receive the Pfizer vaccine as it is currently the only approved vaccination for that age group.

Due to vaccination age restrictions, participants under the age of 19 must present a parent/legal guardian signature prior to receiving the vaccine.  Participants under the age of 19 may contact NorQuina Rieves in the College’s Office of Student Engagement to receive a registration packet.  The packet must be completed by a parent/legal guardian prior to vaccination.  Current SSCC students under the age of 19 may also check their myShelton email and the weekly Student eNewsletter to access the registration packet.

The Vaccination Clinic is supported by the Alabama Community College System.  A recent memo states, “Due to the surplus of COVID-19 vaccinations yet to be administered and marked increase in infections in the state, we have been asked by our state health officials to host vaccination clinics at our ACCS colleges during this critical period.”
