Shelton State Community College to Host Apple Lab Open House

Apple Lab Open House

June 25, 2019 – Shelton State Community College will host an Apple Lab Open House on Tuesday, July 23 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on the C.A. Fredd Campus. The Apple lab is located in Building 600 of the Fredd Campus. The event is free, and all are invited to attend.

The Apple lab is designed to enhance student experiences for the CST program. With exposure to upgraded technology and programming languages, students are becoming stronger programmers as a result of enrollment.

“The updated computer lab at Shelton State has allowed me to enjoy being in college,” said Corey McMillian, a CST student. “Pursuing a computer science degree, I will spend plenty of time in this lab. I am looking forward to furthering my learning and growing here.”

The computer science technology program allows students to become expert problem solvers with the practical and theoretical systems that underlie computer systems. As part of the program, students have opportunities to learn iOS programming for iPhone and iPad apps, tvOS to write apps for Apple TV, Swift programming for macOS and Linux, web development, and C++. Beginning in the fall, new students will be able to choose an emphasis in programming or networking.

Computer Science Technology program graduates will be prepared for numerous entry-level positions in computer programming, application and software development, computer systems analysis, LAN setup and maintenance, and database administration.

Educational options are available for Associate in Applied Science Degrees, Certificates, and Short-term Certificates. App Development with Swift Certification is also available upon completion of specific courses and testing.
