Shelton State Community College @theDome Announces Updated Programming

March 25, 2022 – Shelton State Community College’s @theDome summer 2022 programming will introduce an enhanced educational opportunity.  In addition to already popular camps and workshops, this year’s summer lineup will include the updated STEAM Academy.  Registration is available now.

An enhancement of @theDome’s STEM Academy, student participants in the STEAM Academy will add components of the arts to previous aspects of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) concepts. STEAM Academy will reinforce and add to previously learned classroom skills. Each teacher will work with students on an individual basis to provide instruction and continued learning opportunities.

“STEAM Academy is a great opportunity for middle and high school students to continue growing in the areas of math, science, arts, and technology while learning in a more relaxed environment than the traditional classroom,” stated Beth Rominger, the College’s Instructional Outreach Specialist.  “This is a perfect way for like-minded students from all schools to come together and work on specialized projects.”

STEAM Academy students will begin each morning in an energetic environment focused on math, reading, and language arts skills.  Afternoon sessions will include activities in marine biology, arthropods, LEGOs, arts, and robotics. High school student schedules will include ACT preparation.

A College-wide program, @theDome serves as the primary designation and information source for all Shelton State K-12 outreach camps and programs.   With opportunities also available in athletics, culinary arts, theatre, LEGO engineering, and cosmetology, @theDome programs are designed to accommodate all ages and a wide variety of interests.
