Shelton State Community College Students to Participate in Statewide Cleanup Efforts

Don't Drop it on Alabama 2023

April 5, 2023 – Student organizations at Shelton State Community College will be doing their part to keep Alabama clean!  In partnership with the 2023 Statewide “Don’t Drop It on Alabama” Spring Cleanup, students from the College’s Ambassadors, Cross Country, Cheerleading, Women’s Basketball, and others will spend Friday, April 21 and Friday, April 28 beautifying the C.A. Fredd and Martin Campuses.

The cleanup, which is held annually and coordinated by Alabama PALS (People Against a Littered State), also coordinates and implements the Alabama Coastal Cleanup (partnership with ADCNR), the Alabama Clean Campus Program, the Alabama Adopt a Mile and Adopt a Stream programs (partnership with ALDOT) statewide. Each of these efforts are made possible through partnerships with business and industry, state associations, and state agencies that are committed to making Alabama a leader in environmental volunteerism and awareness. The “Don’t Drop It on Alabama” Spring Cleanup is offered to all 67 Alabama counties and statewide volunteer groups.

All supportive cleanup materials are provided by Alabama PALS at no cost to participants.  This annual event saves Alabama taxpayers millions of dollars through the cleanup efforts of dedicated volunteers.

“The Shelton State Ambassadors have happily participated in Alabama’s Spring Cleanup previously,” stated the groups’ sponsor, Forrest Smith. “We look forward to once again contributing to the betterment of our campus communities and to the improvement of the condition of our state.”
