September 13, 2021 – Shelton State Community College Machine Tool Technology and Computerized Numerical Control recently received accreditation from the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS).  This accreditation is the result of a rigorous examination of program standards as established by NIMS on behalf of the nation’s precision manufacturing industry.

The NIMS accreditation is the result of a three-year journey for the program’s instructors and students.  “The NIMS accreditation endorses that our graduates are ready to work and fulfill the industry’s 21st century needs,” stated Brian Cunningham, one of the College’s Machine Tool Technology instructors.  “This truly is a proud moment for our programs and Shelton State.”

Cunningham’s remarks are echoed by his colleague, Jason Taylor.  “This benchmark national standard for manufacturing excellence demonstrates our commitment to training our students at the highest level,” the Machine Tool Technology/Computerized Numerical Control instructor noted.  “This certification also validates our efforts to meet the standards of the industry partners we serve.”
