Shelton State Community College Phi Theta Kappa Scholar Earns Distinction

March 11, 2022 – Shelton State Community College’s Alpha Epsilon Iota chapter of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) proudly announces Wesley Junkin’s selection as a 2022 Coca-Cola Bronze Scholar.

Receiving a $1,000 scholarship, Junkin’s selection was based on his All-USA Academic Team competition score, for which more than 2,000 applications were received.  The program is sponsored by the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation and is administered by Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.

“Wes has been a true asset to our PTK Chapter and to the College as a whole. He is an extremely smart young man who has a bright and promising future. We are already so proud of him and his accomplishments,” stated PTK Sponsor and faculty member, Dr. Kevin Windham.  “He worked hard in leading our PTK’s Honors in Action project, has served numerous hours in fundraising activities, and been a tutor and mentor to his peers. He is a special student that means a lot to everyone who has had the opportunity to teach or work with him.”

As a Bronze Scholars, Junkin will be presented with a bronze medallion and the scholarship to be used in fall 2022.
