May 6, 2022 – Shelton State Community College is partnering with the Alabama Community College System (ACCS) Innovation Center to offer free training to earn a credential in a food and beverage course. Training will take place at the College’s C.A. Fredd Campus.
Training will include a short-term online class that can be started from anywhere in the state and finished with an in-person lab at a regional ACCS location. Trainees will gain general knowledge about the front of the house, back of the house, customer service, food safety, management principles, and essential cooking techniques. Once the training is complete, trainees will be job-ready, awarded a credential, and provided an opportunity to earn more certifications at their local community college.
Online training must be completed prior to the skills lab day. Trainees can choose to do the online class on their own time or attend the open computer lab at the College’s C.A. Fredd Campus between Wednesday, May 11 and Thursday, May 12 from 10:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Trainees must attend and complete the in-person Skills Demonstration Lab at the Fredd Campus on Saturday, May 14 from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. (Lunch will be provided on Saturday.)
