Shelton State Community College Offers Additional Scholarships for Modern Manufacturing Program

Modern Manufacturing

December 21, 2020 – Shelton State Community College recently launched its new Modern Manufacturing program. Created with the input of local business and industry leaders, the Modern Manufacturing curriculum prepares students for successful employment in West Alabama. A limited number of scholarship are available for students interested in beginning the program in spring 2021.

Modern Manufacturing guides students in applying basic manufacturing principles and technical skills to the identification and resolution of production problems. The new program includes instruction in machine operations, production line operations, systems analysis, instrumentation, physical controls, automation, manufacturing planning, quality control, and informational infrastructure.

“It is exciting to see our students preparing to fill production positions in local industry,” stated Grant Cockrell, Associate Dean of Technical Services. “We’ve created a program that will allow students not only to finish with a degree, but they’ll also receive industry certifications acknowledging their newly gained skillsets. We look forward to reviewing our pool of scholarship applicants and helping them get started on this path.”

Scholarship funding is available for a limited time. The deadline for Modern Manufacturing scholarship applications is January 4. Registration for the program is currently available for spring, and classes begin on January 13.
