September 20, 2018 – Shelton State Community College has named Jonathan Koh as the College’s Director of Grants and Governmental Relations.

Koh earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a Masters of Public Administration from The University of Alabama. While pursuing his Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration, Koh worked as Research Coordinator for the Education Policy Center at The University of Alabama. Now in his fourth year at Shelton State, Dr. Koh has doubled external revenues for grant funded projects each year.

As Director of Grants and Governmental Relations, Koh is responsible for advancing the position of the College to further facilitate opportunities that serve the state of Alabama. In the position of Director, he coordinates and manages all aspects of grant writing and reporting while advocating for or against actions which are important to the mission of the College.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Shelton State since joining the team in August of 2015,” says Koh. “I am very excited to have been provided this opportunity to build on the work that has been accomplished so far.” Koh believes that his new role will facilitate more opportunities to serve the state as services and programs are increased and improved. “I am excited to see what the future holds for Shelton State and the West Alabama region.”

Dr. Bill Ashley, President of Shelton State Community College, has great confidence in Koh’s ability. “Dr. Koh has a natural talent of absorbing ideas, data, and facts,” noted Ashley. “As an advocate for the College with federal, state, and governmental officials, he will help me advance College issues and generate awareness. The strength of his leadership will help the College actively pursue funding and support from entities that entrust us with resources.”

Koh’s new role at the College began September 1, 2018.
