Shelton State Community College Kicks Off “Next-Level” Training

JumpStartAL

August 17, 2020 – Shelton State Community College Workforce Development (SSCC) opened the fall semester on Monday with its first day of JumpStartAL training. Using leading edge virtual reality (VR) training solutions from the job simulator TRANSFRVR, JumpStartAL offers new education and training programs to develop the state’s next generation of highly skilled workers.

One of five Alabama community colleges piloting JumpStartAL training, SSCC is using modules that were created with input from industry partners and will help participants develop specific skills needed to jobs, beginning with manufacturing and expanding into other industries in the future.

“We are excited to provide this ‘next-level’ technology to develop highly skilled workers in the West Alabama region,” stated Nicole DuBose, SSCC Director of Training for Business and Industry. “Our current training uses virtual reality headsets to provide industry-specific simulations for both blueprint reading and precision measurement training.”

JumpStartAL training is available for anyone interested in career in the skilled trades, including high school students, veterans, workers in existing industries, the unemployed, and the underemployed.
