Shelton State Community College Kicks Off “Here Comes Santa” on November 18
November 13, 2024 – Shelton State Community College is excited to announce the kickoff of its annual Here Comes Santa initiative, an opportunity for Shelton State faculty, staff, and students to join in giving back to the community. This beloved tradition, sponsored by the SSCC Ambassadors, will run from November 18 to December 6, 2024, concluding at noon.
In the spirit of the holiday season, the Shelton State family will forego personal gift exchanges, opting instead to pool resources to benefit several local organizations. This year’s initiative, organized in cooperation with United Way of West Alabama, supports the following agencies: Caring Days, FOCUS on Senior Citizens, Phoenix House, Tuscaloosa’s One Place, Turning Point, Five Horizons, Salvation Army, Veteran’s Outreach, and Metro Animal Shelter. Through Here Comes Santa, Shelton State upholds its commitment to serving as “the community’s college” by addressing local needs and extending kindness.
Each campus will house a display of “Santa’s bags” with specific requests from each participating organization, as well as instructions for making contributions. Donations can be made anonymously, and all contributions, no matter the size, are welcome. Following the collection period, donations will be delivered to the designated organizations during the week of December 9.
Donation collection points are conveniently located at both the Martin and Fredd Campuses.
- Martin Campus: Advising Suite – 1st Floor
- Fredd Campus: Building 100 – Front Office
“This event brings together the Shelton State family in a shared mission to make a difference,” said Sharda’ Smith, coordinator of the Here Comes Santa initiative. “Whether participating individually or as a team, we hope everyone considers this an opportunity to bring joy to others while celebrating the spirit of giving.”
