Shelton State Community College Hosts Free Event at Demopolis Higher Education Center

Shelton State Blitz

February 22, 2019 – Shelton State Community College will partner with the Demopolis Career Center for the 2019 Shelton State Blitz on Tuesday, March 12, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. at the Demopolis Higher Education Center. This free event will assist prospective students with enrollment, placement testing, financial aid, and Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) eligibility.

Attendees are encouraged to bring photo identification, their social security card, income verification documents, and their 2017 federal tax return. Income may be verified with a public assistance benefit letter, such as food stamps, SSD, or SSI. A paycheck stub from within the last six months may also be used. Attendees under the age of 24 must bring tax returns from a parent or legal guardian.

“The goal of the Blitz is to provide students with a strategy to apply for WIOA funding through the Demopolis Career Center while meeting admission requirements at Shelton State,” stated Josie Cox, Shelton State Student Support Specialist. “Shelton State is one of the primary providers of training services in the Demopolis area, and by partnering with the Demopolis Career Center for this event, we hope to create a one-stop-shop for students interested in furthering their education.”

The Demopolis Higher Education Center is located at 186 Field of Dreams Drive in Gallion, Alabama. For more information, contact Josie Cox at 205.391.5881 or jcox@sheltonstate.edu.
