Applications being accepted for Gail Cole Kapphan Glass Slipper Award

August 23, 2021 – The Shelton State Community College Foundation is now accepting nominations for the 2021 Gail Cole Kapphan Glass Slipper Award.  This year’s award winner will be recognized at the College’s Wine Women and Shoes event on Thursday, November 18.

To submit a nomination, visit Shelton State Foundation’s Gail Cole Kapphan Glass Slipper Award.  Nominations must be submitted by October 31, 2021.

Originally from Linden, Alabama, Gail Cole Kapphan called Tuscaloosa home for almost fifty years.

Although she began as a social worker and instructor in Human Development and Psychology at Shelton State Community College and The University of Alabama, Gail started her full-time real estate career with Hamner Real Estate in 1984. Always an important asset to Hamner, Gail was honored by the Tuscaloosa Association of Realtors as Realtor of the Year, Salesperson of the Year, and received the Cooperative Spirit Award voted on by her realtor peers.

As an active member of the West Alabama Community, Gail devoted her time to serving on numerous civic boards including President of the Tuscaloosa Junior League, YMCA, American Cancer Society, March of Dimes, Sorority Alumnae Board, and The First United Methodist Church. Twice she served as PTA president of her children’s schools, nine other PTA boards, and President of Central High School Football and Cheerleader Booster Clubs.

Although we no longer can be in Gail’s physical presence, the Gail Cole Kapphan Glass Slipper Award carries on her spirit of service and dedication by honoring the women who are following in her footsteps.
