Shelton State Community College Exhibition to Feature Student Artwork

Fall 2018 student art show

November 15, 2018 – Shelton State Community College’s Visual Arts Department will present its Fall 2018 Student Art Exhibition November 19 through December 7 in the Cadence Bank Art Gallery on the Martin Campus. The exhibition is free and open to the public.

The Fall 2018 Student Art Exhibition will feature student artwork created during fall semester art courses. A reception for the student artists will be held on Thursday, November 29 from 3:30 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. in the gallery. The reception is also free and open to the public.

Part of Shelton State’s designation as the Community College of the Fine Arts for the state of Alabama, the visual arts department focuses on instruction in art techniques and processes engaging students in creative thinking, self-exploration, and critical evaluation. Courses are designed to provide students with a strong foundation in studio arts and art history. The art program offers experience for students pursuing transfer to a four-year college program, art careers, and/or personal enrichment.

The Cadence Bank Art Gallery, located on the Martin Campus, showcases a changing series of exhibitions of local, regional, and national artists. At the end of each semester, the gallery features a juried student art exhibition with a purchase award.
