September 6, 2022 – Shelton State Community College (SSCC) Esports is looking forward to its third year of competition. This fall, Shelton State will boast the largest Bucs Esports team to date.

Twenty-one players will compete in eleven game titles in two different leagues. SSCC Esports is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association Esports (NJCAAE) and will compete in their tournament. One player will compete in that league and the Collegiate VR Esports (CVRE) league. Team captains for the fall will be Griffin Caddis, Carson Gibbs, Sean Lindley, and Clay Postle.

NJCAAE tournament play for this year is organized into invitational, open, and intramural competitions. Two SSCC teams will be competing in invitational qualifiers for the privilege of being in the invitational tournament. Those qualifiers begin Labor Day weekend. Competition for all team members begins the week of October 3. SSCC Esports will be competing in the following eleven games: BeatSaber, CoD Gunfight, CoD Warzone, Hearthstone, iRacing, Madden, Mario Kart, NBA2K, Rocket League, Smash Ultimate, and Valorant.

In addition to competition consistent with their prior seasons, the Shelton State Esports team is excited about intramural play.  “Intramurals is a welcome addition for our community,” said Elena Hodgson, the College’s Esports sponsor. “Intramurals will be open to all students, faculty, staff, and families, and we’re looking forward to sharing more information about those opportunities soon.”
