Shelton State Community College Esports Completes Fall Competition
December 12, 2024 – The Shelton State Esports teams recently concluded fall play by competing for national titles in four games. The Rocket League, Tekken, Valorant, and Warzone teams represented the College in championship play.
On Sunday, December 1, Tekken players and Warzone teams played their first postseason games. The #2 seeded Tekken player Sh’Quan Spencer lost in the second round of the playoffs finishing 22nd. After an amazing 16-3 season, the #14 seeded Tekken player Kyle Gillison finished 5th overall. The #2 seeded Warzone team finished in the finals coming up just short of the championship but netting themselves 2nd place for the year. The team consists of Hayden Norstrom and Wesley Everett. The #3 Warzone team finished in the first round of the playoffs ending 9th on the year. The team consists of Ethan Schulte, Sean Sanford, and Willie Brasfield III.
On Thursday, December 5, the #3 seeded Valorant team played their first tournament match. While they fought valiantly, they fell and finished 9th on the season. The Valorant team consists of Samuel Bauer, Garrett Baxter, Peyton Caddis, Alex Medders, McLandon Hunt, Vincent Shim, Emily West, and Trevor Wilson.
On Friday, December 6, the #14 seeded Rocket League team finished 5th after taking down 4th seeded Monroe Community College and losing to Heartland. The Rocket League team consists of Matthew Jackson, Michael West, and Noah Yarbrough.
